How To Effectively Use PLR Articles Without Rewriting Them First…

Let’s face it – most Internet marketers, niche marketers and affiliate marketers are lazy, which is one of the main reasons that PLR articles are so popular, right? And for those who aren’t lazy, PLR articles represent a real timesaving tool – after all, the research has been done for you so it’s just a matter of rewriting the articles and using them.

But still, as one of the original pioneers in online PLR and still one of the top PLR experts, I’m often asked what can be done with PLR articles without rewriting them. First, let’s look at what you can’t do – you can’t submit them to article directories and you can’t use them on blogs or websites as search engine bait. You can use them, but the search engines ignore them since they’ve already seen them on dozens of sites, and your credibility slips with anyone who has already read the same article, word-for-word, on another site.

But be that as it may, you can still use PLR articles without rewriting them to build optin lists and build traffic. Let’s look at optin list building – what’s the most effective way currently to build your list? With a free report behind a squeeze page, right? So compile the PLR articles into a PDF report, create an e-cover & squeeze page, put your bio and links at the end of the report and get it online. Use the social media, your blogs, article marketing – any of the standard traffic generation strategies to get prospects to your squeeze page so that they get the report and you get the marketing leads on your optin lists.

Next, let’s look at how to build traffic with PLR articles without rewriting them. Put on your headset or pull out your mic and make an MP3 file of the article. Now post it to your blog as a podcast along with a 1-paragraph summary of the information. Be sure you ping your blog post to the search engines and blog directories, and ping the podcast directories like iTunes, Podcast Alley and Podcast Ready with your podcast feed.

If you want to get the most from each PLR article, next open your video editing software and import your podcast as the audio track and stream the article into it in time to the voiceover. You now have a video you can upload to YouTube, Viddler and the like, and if you’re doing a number of them consider building a video blog and vlogging at Blogger or WordPress.org, again adding a single paragraph summary with each video you post.

Of course, if you want to get the most benefit from your PLR articles you WILL rewrite them in your own words and then use them as above too, plus post them to your blogs, use them on your sites and/or submit your totally new version to the article directories.

3 Simple Steps To Make Money with PLR Articles

Whatever you are doing online, you can make money with PLR. If you write your own content you will save time by rewriting PLR articles instead. If you outsource, you will save money. And even if you get free content syndicated to your site, you can use PLR to drive traffic.

So here are 3 important tips to making money with PLR articles:

1. Pick A Niche Where People Are Spending

A lot of PLR article memberships will have you download a ton of articles in niches where, frankly, you would have to be a miracle worker to make money.

Sometimes this is because nobody is interested in the subject. More often, it is because they are not spending enough to make it worth your time. Either the products are very cheap so your commissions are tiny, or the visitors are not likely to order online.

Sure, you can still have Adsense on your site and maybe make a few cents that way. But it will not be more than a few cents a click because the advertisers will not pay much for clicks from visitors in a low-spending market.

So before you even take the time to set up a simple blog, ask yourself a few questions. Is this really a popular area? Who is going to be buying products or signing up for services online? And what products will they buy? Are there affiliate programs? Are there CPA offers?

2. Make Your PLR Unique – At Least A Little

When you buy PLR you must realize that other people have the right to use it, just like you. Changing it, at least a little, means you have more chance of getting your version into the search engine results.

The simplest way to alter PLR articles, if your English is not good or you do not want to take much time, is to change the keywords. These will be in the title and usually around 3 places in the article. Having a different title is a great start and for your own site, this may be all you have to do.

The next step if you want to go further is to change the first and last paragraphs. You can alter or delete a few words, split one sentence into two, and make easy changes like that.

Rewriting the article completely is necessary if you want to submit it to article directories. For a complete marketing strategy, you could rewrite the article for the top article directories but use a less changed version on your own site. That way you are not even competing with your own article for Google’s attention.

3. Be Creative In How You Use The Articles

So far we have covered some of the standard ways to make money with PLR articles. But think outside of the box and you can steal ahead of other marketers.

Using the articles along with an opt in list will help you make more money. Capture subscribers using a free ebook that you compiled from some related PLR articles, then use the information in the articles to send them a regular newsletter. You can promote your affiliate products in every newsletter.

Many people will not buy the first time they see an offer. They need 2, 3 or anything up to 10 visits. Plus you have the chance to promote several different products to them over a period of time. So by bringing your subscribers back to your offers again and again, you can easily make a lot more money.

Or how about video? You can use points from the articles to create a video to promote your chosen affiliate product. Create simple slides that summarize the main points. You can do this with Powerpoint or a free online video creation program such as Jing. Then either narrate your commentary, including more details, or simply have music accompanying the slides.

You can use PLR articles as your ’secret weapon’ to save time and money in virtually any traffic strategy that you can think of. Get into a profitable niche and focus on it, change the PLR at least a little and be creative in your thinking. Then you should find it easy to make money with PLR articles.

PLR articles are available on almost every topic – and as a result, most PLR articles cover various niches. Usually one niche is covered with say 10, 15 or 25 articles all on the one topic. And if you’re like most Internet marketers, affiliate marketers or have any other type of work-at-home online business, you probably have a ton of PLR articles on various niches sitting on your hard drive right now, right?

Don’t feel bad – everyone else in the biz is in the same boat! After all, there’s only so much time in a day, but there are SO many areas we want to get to in terms of profitable niches that we just keep downloading the articles for that magical ’someday’ when we have time to use them…

Well, there’s a great solution to that problem – and it’s a free solution at that!

Chances are you already know the best way to attack any niche is with a blog, right? After all, the big engines like Google, Yahoo! and Bing all index them, but then so do the blog directories and services like Technorati and MyBlogLog! And it’s much easier to drive traffic from Twitter, MySpace and FaceBook to a blog post than to a salespage, and you can use that post to pre-sell the readers before sending them off to your product, squeeze page or affiliate link.

So here’s your new plan – write this down, grab the free tools and resources and soon you’ll be able to launch a new niche blog or two every day!

Step 1 – Install a secure, SEO-enabled WordPress blog – it can be on it’s own domain or in a sub-domain – just be sure the domain name or sub-domain has your main keyword or keyword phrase in it. Don’t panic, you can install the blog, secured and with the SEO plugins in place in minutes using Alex Sysoef’s Free Expert WordPress Blog Installer!

Step 2 – Change the default theme WordPress comes with to an appropriate niche theme to match your topic. I have 10 Free Niche WordPress Themes you can download for Free to get you started.

Step 3 – Install the free Tweet My Blog plugin so that your Twitter followers are notified each time you post an article to your blog.

Step 4 – Find the right ClickBank products to match your niche and your PLR articles’ content. Start by installing Tim Brechbill’s free SkaDoogle plugin, then check at ClickBank for other related products and pick up some sidebar ad graphics to put in your blog’s sidebar.

Step 5 – Now load up your new blog with the PLR articles you have – let the first 3 or 4 post right away as you put them in, then schedule the rest about a day or two apart. Don’t set them all for the same time each day, but select random times to make the postings seem more realistic and authentic. Depending on how many articles you have, that should keep the blog busy for at least 2-4 weeks with fresh content each day…

That’s it – you’re done! You now have a blog in that niche, your PLR articles are being posted daily or every couple of days, your SkaDoogle plugin is showing relevant ClickBank products, the ClickBank products YOU chose are prominent in the sidebar as well – and you’re off to build another niche blog!

Your first time through will take a bit of time as you learn each of these steps – although each is simple, you’ll want to go slow enough to be sure of what you’re doing. Soon though, you’ll be doing all of the above in an hour or two per blog!

As you become more proficient, take a bit of the time you’re saving to promote your new blogs on the various social bookmarking sites, re-write a few of the articles from each niche to use as Squidoo lenses and Google Knols, and add some PLR or MRR e-books to sell from the sites as well to increase your traffic and your income…

And watch for any more PLR articles you can find in the same niches, so you have new content from time to time to add in and keep the blogs fresh.
