Private Label Rights

Private Label Rights - PLR Explained

©2007 Doug Champigny

There is a lot of chatter online about PLR products. In case you aren’t sure exactly what PLR is, it stands for Private Label Rights, but the title alone doesn’t explain what it is. In fact, many people confuse it with other types of rights, such as Resell Rights, which is completely different.

When you purchase a product that has Private Label Rights, you usually have the right to:

• Change the product in any way that you choose. You can rewrite it, redesign it, or even rename it – whatever you want. You can completely recreate the product – or you can choose not to change anything about it at all (not advised).

• The rights to sell the product for any price you choose or give it away as a bonus or incentive, as you see fit.

• The right to put your name on it as the creator.

Essentially, when you purchase a PLR product, you are purchasing a product that you can call your very own. This makes it possible for people who have no product, no product idea, or no product creation budget to start their own businesses, with little or no hassle.

Because PLR products make getting into business so easy, they have become very popular. In the Internet Marketing crowd, it seems that everybody is either looking for PLR products or creating products that they can sell to others as PLR products. No matter which side of the fence you find yourself on, PLR is big business.

As with anything else, some PLR packages are good, and others are just the same old rehashed stuff. For ideal higher quality PLR products, seek out those that are limited to a certain number of people. These are often higher priced – but well worth that price in the long run.
